Your financial information changed
Rankk uses available information from your connected financial accounts to help calculate your position.
Your rank may change when there is a change in your:
- Spending
- Savings
- Account balances
- Net worth
- Debt
- Investments
- Income
- Other supported financial areas
For example, paying down a credit card balance may improve the part of your rank connected to debt.
Learn more about understanding your Rankk percentile.
Your comparison group changed
Your percentile depends on the people included in your selected comparison group.
Changing the group may change your percentile even when your financial information stays exactly the same.
For example:
- Compared with everyone: 72nd percentile
- Compared with people in your age range: 79th percentile
- Compared with people in a similar age and income range: 75th percentile
Your finances did not change. Only the group used for the comparison changed.

A connected account updated
Your rank may change when Rankk receives a new balance, transaction, debt amount, or investment value.
For example:
- A savings account receives a paycheck
- A credit card balance increases
- A loan balance decreases
- An investment account gains or loses value
- Recent transactions finish processing
Different accounts may update at different times, so your rank may change again after all information is current.
You connected a new account
Adding an account can make your financial picture more complete.
For example:
- Connecting a savings account may increase your assets
- Connecting an investment account may increase your net worth
- Connecting a credit card may increase your recorded debt
- Connecting a loan may change your debt-related results
Your percentile may rise or fall depending on what the new account adds.
This does not necessarily mean your real finances changed. Rankk may simply have more complete information.

An account was removed or disconnected
Removing an account may also change your rank.
For example:
- Removing a savings account may make your assets appear lower
- Removing a loan may make your debt appear lower
- Removing an investment account may reduce your displayed net worth
- Removing a credit card may remove some spending history
A disconnected or outdated account may also make your financial picture less complete.
Try reconnecting an account before removing it.

Your spending changed
Changes in your spending may affect a spending-related percentile.
Your position may change when:
- Your total spending increases or decreases
- One category changes sharply
- Your spending becomes higher than usual
- Your income changes without a similar change in spending
- A large purchase appears
- A refund is completed
For example, an unusually expensive month may temporarily lower a spending-related result.
A single purchase does not always explain the full change. Rankk may consider a broader view of your available financial information.

Your savings or cash balances changed
Saving more money may improve parts of your financial position.
Your rank may also change when:
- You receive income
- You move money out of savings
- You make a large purchase
- A deposit finishes processing
- A cash account updates after being outdated
Moving money between your own connected accounts should not normally change your total financial position.
For example, moving $1,000 from checking to savings does not create another $1,000.
However, your rank may briefly move when one side of the transfer updates before the other.

Your debt changed
Debt-related results may change when:
- You pay down a credit card
- A loan payment reduces your balance
- You make a new purchase on credit
- You open a new loan
- Interest or fees are added
- A debt account receives a corrected balance
For example:
- Credit card balance before payment: $5,000
- New balance after payment: $4,200
- Debt reduction: $800
Reducing what you owe may improve your financial position.
Not every dollar of a payment reduces debt. Part of a loan payment may go toward interest or fees.
Your net worth changed
Your net worth may affect your overall or net-worth-related position.
It may change because:
- Cash balances increased or decreased
- Investment values moved
- Debt increased or decreased
- A major purchase was made
- An account was connected or removed
- An outdated balance was corrected
Learn more about why your net worth changed.
Investment values changed
Investment and retirement account values can rise or fall as markets change.
This means your rank may move even when you did not deposit, withdraw, buy, or sell anything.
For example:
- Investment value before: $80,000
- Updated value: $76,500
- Change: −$3,500
If other information stays the same, the lower value may affect your net worth and related percentile.
Investment values may update at different times depending on the financial institution.
A pending transaction became completed
Pending transactions can change before they are completed.
The final transaction may have a different:
- Amount
- Date
- Merchant name
- Category
For example, a pending restaurant charge may change from $60 to $72 after the tip is added.
When the transaction becomes completed, Rankk may update your spending information and related results.
A transaction was corrected
Your rank may change after Rankk receives better information about a transaction.
For example:
- A transfer was previously counted as spending
- A refund was identified
- A duplicated pending transaction disappeared
- An incorrect category was updated
- Income was identified correctly
These corrections can change the information used across Rankk.
Comparison information may update
Percentiles compare your result with available comparison information.
Your percentile may change when that information is refreshed, even when your finances remain mostly the same.
For example, your result could stay the same while the financial results within your selected comparison group change.
A small financial change can move your percentile
Percentiles show your position within a group.
When several people have results close together, a small financial change can move your position.
For example, a modest change in savings or debt could move you from the 74th percentile to the 76th percentile.
The movement may look larger than the financial change because a percentile shows position, not the dollar amount of the change.
Your category ranks may move differently
Rankk may show separate percentiles for supported parts of your finances.
For example:
- Spending may improve
- Debt may stay the same
- Net worth may decrease
- Your overall percentile may move only slightly
Each category can respond to different financial changes.
Do not assume that your overall percentile is a simple average of the category percentiles.
Rank changes may be temporary
Some rank changes may correct themselves after all accounts and transactions finish updating.
This can happen when:
- One side of a transfer updates first
- A transaction is still pending
- An investment account updates before another account
- A debt payment leaves checking before the loan balance updates
- An account temporarily stops syncing
Give recent activity time to finish processing before assuming the result is incorrect.
How to review a rank change
When your rank changes, check:
- Whether your comparison group changed
- Whether any account was connected, removed, or reconnected
- Whether your balances are current
- Whether your spending changed
- Whether your debt changed
- Whether investment values moved
- Whether recent transactions are still pending
- Whether your net worth changed
Review category percentiles when available to see which part of your financial picture moved.
Your rank is not a credit score
A change in your Rankk percentile does not change your credit score.
Your Rankk percentile and credit score are separate measurements.
A higher Rankk percentile does not guarantee loan approval, better interest rates, or a higher credit score.
What if my rank still looks wrong?
First, confirm that:
- Your important accounts are connected
- No account needs attention
- Your balances and transactions are current
- The correct comparison group is selected
- Recent transactions have finished processing
