What is Plaid?
Plaid is a financial technology company that helps apps connect with financial institutions.
When you connect an account to Rankk, Plaid may help you:
- Find your financial institution
- Sign in securely
- Confirm your identity
- Choose which accounts to connect
- Approve what information can be shared
Rankk does not control the sign-in screens or security steps shown by Plaid or your financial institution.
How the connection works
When you select a financial institution in Rankk, a secure connection window opens. You may be asked to enter your bank login information, complete a verification step, or approve the connection directly through your financial institution.
After you approve the connection, Plaid sends the available financial information to Rankk.
- Account names and types
- Current and available balances
- Transactions
- Loan information
- Investment holdings
- Other supported account details
The exact information available depends on the account and financial institution. Learn how to connect a financial account.
Does Rankk see my bank password?
Your login is handled through the secure connection process provided by Plaid or your institution. In some cases, your financial institution may allow you to approve the connection without entering your login information into Plaid.
Why does the connection process look different for some banks?
Not every financial institution connects in the same way. Depending on the institution, you may:
- Sign in through Plaid
- Be sent to your bank’s website or app
- Approve access through a direct connection
- Enter a one-time security code
- Complete extra identity checks
These differences are normal and depend on the security process used by your financial institution.
What happens after an account is connected?
Rankk begins receiving and organizing the available financial information. Balances may appear first. Transactions, investments, loans, and other details may take longer to finish loading.
Once the information is available, Rankk can use it to help you understand your finances and power the tools inside the app. Learn more about how Rankk works.
Why might I need to reconnect an account?
A connection may need attention when:
- You changed your bank password
- Your financial institution requires new approval
- A security setting changed
- Your connection expired
- Your bank updated its connection system
- The institution is having a temporary problem
When this happens, Rankk may ask you to reconnect the account. Learn how to reconnect a financial account.
Can I remove a Plaid connection?
Yes. You can remove a connected account from Rankk at any time. Removing an account stops Rankk from receiving new information from that connection. It may also affect your balances, spending totals, net worth, monthly budgets, financial forecasts, rankings, and Rankk AI answers.
