How Does Rankk AI Use Your Financial Information?

Rankk AI uses the financial information available in your Rankk account to give answers that are more personal and useful to you.

What information can Rankk AI use?

The information Rankk AI can use depends on the accounts you connect and the features you use.

This may include:

  • Account balances
  • Transactions
  • Spending categories
  • Merchants
  • Income
  • Bills and subscriptions
  • Credit card and loan balances
  • Investment and retirement accounts
  • Net worth
  • Monthly budgets
  • Financial goals
  • Planning scenarios
  • Information you provide in the conversation

Rankk AI should only use information available through your Rankk account and the question you ask.

Connected accounts provide the starting point

Rankk receives financial information from accounts you choose to connect.

Most financial institutions connect through Plaid. Some institutions may use their own direct connection service.

Depending on the account, Rankk may receive information such as:

  • Account names and types
  • Current balances
  • Available balances
  • Transactions
  • Loan information
  • Investment holdings
  • Other supported account details

Rankk organizes this information before it is used across the app.

Rankk AI looks for information related to your question

Rankk AI does not need every available financial detail for every answer.

It should focus on the information connected to the question you ask.

For example, if you ask:

“Why was my spending higher this month?”

Rankk AI may review:

  • This month’s transactions
  • Last month’s transactions
  • Spending categories
  • Merchant totals
  • Large or unusual purchases
  • Refunds and transfers

If you ask:

“Why did my net worth decrease?”

Rankk AI may review:

  • Cash balances
  • Investment values
  • Credit card balances
  • Loan balances
  • Accounts that recently updated
  • Large financial movements

This helps keep the answer focused on what you asked.

Example: understanding your spending

Imagine you ask:

“Where did I spend the most this month?”

Rankk AI may review your completed transactions and organize them by category or merchant.

It may answer with something like:

“You spent the most on dining this month at $620. That was $180 more than last month, mainly because of higher spending at three restaurants and a food delivery service.”

The answer may include the totals and transactions that helped explain the result.

Example: safe to spend

Imagine you ask:

“Can I safely spend $300 this weekend?”

Rankk AI may review:

  • Your available cash
  • Upcoming bills
  • Expected income
  • Remaining budget amounts
  • Planned savings
  • Recent and pending transactions

It may explain whether the purchase appears to fit your current month and which expenses still need to be covered.

Safe to spend is an estimate. Rankk AI may not know about cash purchases, unconnected accounts, or bills that have not appeared yet.

Example: net worth

Imagine you ask:

“Why did my net worth fall this week?”

Rankk AI may compare your assets and debts before and after the change.

It may find that:

  • Investments lost $1,800 in value
  • Credit card debt increased by $400
  • Savings increased by $300

The estimated total change would be a decrease of $1,900.

Example: future planning

Imagine you ask:

“What could happen if I invest another $500 each month?”

Rankk AI may use your current financial picture and the assumptions in a Planning scenario to show a possible future result.

The answer may consider:

  • Your current net worth
  • Current investment contributions
  • The extra monthly amount
  • The selected time period
  • An estimated investment return

Financial forecasts are estimates and cannot guarantee future results.

Your conversations provide extra context

Rankk AI can also use the details you share in your question.

For example, you may tell Rankk AI:

  • The price of a purchase you are considering
  • A target savings amount
  • A goal date
  • A future change in income
  • An expense that is not visible in Rankk
  • Which account or category you mean

This information can help Rankk AI answer questions that connected accounts cannot fully explain on their own.

For example:

“I want to save $30,000 for a home in three years. How much should I save each month?”

The goal amount and date give Rankk AI the information needed to calculate a starting monthly target.

Why complete information matters

Rankk AI can only use the financial information available to it.

An answer may be incomplete when:

  • An important account is not connected
  • An account needs to be reconnected
  • Transactions have not finished updating
  • A cash purchase is not visible
  • A bill is missing
  • A financial institution provides limited details
  • Your budget or goal is outdated
  • You have not provided an important detail

For example, Rankk AI may underestimate your spending if your main credit card is not connected.

How Rankk AI handles transfers and refunds

Not every deposit is income, and not every transaction leaving an account is spending.

Rankk tries to identify:

  • Transfers between your own accounts
  • Credit card payments
  • Refunds
  • Income
  • Regular purchases

For example, moving $500 from checking to savings should not be treated as $500 of spending or $500 of new income.

Correctly identifying these transactions helps Rankk AI give a clearer answer.

Rankk AI may use your budget and goals

When your question relates to monthly spending or future progress, Rankk AI may review information you entered in Rankk.

This may include:

  • Your monthly budget
  • Category limits
  • Planned savings
  • Debt payments
  • Financial goals
  • Goal amounts
  • Goal dates
  • Future planning assumptions

For example, a $400 purchase may fit your account balance but place you over your monthly shopping budget.

Rankk AI can help explain both parts of the decision.

Rankk AI does not automatically change your accounts

Using your financial information to answer a question does not mean Rankk AI automatically takes action.

Asking a question does not automatically:

  • Move money
  • Pay a bill
  • Buy or sell an investment
  • Apply for credit
  • Cancel a subscription
  • Change your budget
  • Edit a financial goal
  • Contact your financial institution

Any supported action that changes your account or settings should require a clear request and confirmation.

Other Rankk users cannot see your financial details

Your private account information is not shown to other Rankk users through Rankk AI.

Other users should not receive access to your:

  • Balances
  • Transactions
  • Income
  • Debts
  • Investment holdings
  • Budgets
  • Goals
  • Connected account details
  • Private Rankk AI conversations

Shared conversations are different. Only share a conversation after reviewing exactly what it contains.

Do not make unsupported claims about data storage, encryption, retention periods, model training, or deletion behavior. Those details should be explained only in approved privacy and security articles.

Rankk AI can make mistakes

Rankk AI may misunderstand a question, use incomplete information, or give an answer based on a transaction that was categorized incorrectly.

Always review the numbers and details behind an important answer.

If something looks wrong, you can say:

  • “That transaction is a transfer, not spending.”
  • “Use only my completed transactions.”
  • “Do not include my business account.”
  • “Use the last three months instead.”
  • “My monthly income will change next month.”

Rankk AI can then review the question again using the corrected information.

How to improve the information Rankk AI uses

For more useful answers:

  1. Connect your important financial accounts.
  2. Reconnect accounts that need attention.
  3. Keep your budget and goals current.
  4. Review incorrect transaction categories.
  5. Include important details in your question.
  6. Mention expenses or income Rankk cannot see.
  7. Review the numbers shown in the answer.

The more complete and accurate your financial picture is, the more useful Rankk AI can be.

What if Rankk AI uses the wrong information?

First, review the accounts, transactions, time period, and assumptions included in the answer.

Then tell Rankk AI what should change.

For example:

“Recalculate this without counting the $1,000 transfer as income.”

If the source information inside Rankk is missing or outdated, review why account information may be missing or outdated.

If the problem continues, contact Rankk support.

Include:

  • The question you asked
  • The part of the answer that appears incorrect
  • The account, transaction, or amount involved
  • What you expected instead
  • A screenshot, if helpful

Do not include your password, verification code, or full account number.
